New Socks

To many sock wearers, an old pair of socks is like an old friend. No matter how often the go through the wash, they are lovingly folded and placed in the sock drawer to be used again and again.

However, there comes a point in the life-cycle of a pair of socks that they simply must be replaced. They get holes, their colour becomes faded, the elastic begins to go at the top, or they just get too crusty to keep. Say goodbye to these old pals, toss them into the recycling and order new socks.

To sock connoisseurs such as ourselves, there is nothing like the thrill of a new pair of socks. There’s a small celebration as postie arrives with our subscription from in his sack, and we tear open the padded envelope to reveal the treasure inside.

Socks, neatly folded in pairs. With joy, we remove the cardboard backing, and snip off the plastic clip and breath in the sock-factory newness of a new pair. Perhaps it’s the love and the sprinkle of fairy dust, or just the smell of the massive Sock-o-Tron 2000 machine, but we cannot resist the smell of new socks, and we’re seeking urgent therapy because we get told off for doing it on the bus.

New socks are a gift from the gods, and if you haven’t bought some recently, do so now. NOW!
